ORGANISATIONAL LINKS

Education Department:- University of Delhi. Collaboration was sought and given for input to the regular teacher training courses organised by the Department in September 1996 - one such programme was conducted by the Inspiration Centre. The aims of the programme was to inform the future teachers about the basics of the problems of mental retardation, since normal schools are the major points which can identify such problems early.

Indira Gandhi Institute for Physical Education and Sports Sciences - Vikaspuri:- Another programme was organised at this institute. Though the basic aim was advocacy within Vikaspuri, the programme, which was also telecast, resulted in the following organisational & programm links:-

  • It was decided that professors of IGIPESS would be trained by NIMH trainers, to become resource persons for sports training of the developmentally disabled with a view to prepare participants for the Special Olympics in 1999.

  • Students at IGIPESS doing a doctorate in sports psychology will take children at Inspiration Centre for sports, as well as psychological research.

National Institute for Mentally Handicapped (NIMH)

  • Secuderabad:- Support for advocacy work, Dr. Reeta Peshawaria- (Professor of Clinical Psychology) accepted to speak at one of our advocacy programme and to offer assistance for specialised parental guidance.

  • Delhi:- Support for advocacy programmes, and identification of children with learning disabilities, also training of teacher assistants at Inspiration Centre, admissioin to DMR courses to teacher assistants in Inspiration Centre.

Delhi Council for Child Welfare - Orthopedic Centre - Provision of personnel and equipment for vocational and occupational therapy once a week. The children are taken to the DCCW centre, Janakpuri, once a week.

UNICEF - disability section - Provision of literature.

FOD (Family of Disabled) - Inspiration networks with FOD for various workshops and exercises for the disabled children at the Inspiration centre.

Mata Kaushalya Devi Charitable Trust equips Inspiration with physiotherapy and occupational therapy equipment's. They also provide medical expertise for the same whenever needed.

Spastic Society of India sends West Delhi special cases during there community bases rehabilitation (CBR) programme

National Federation of Parents Association in India - PARIVAR - Inspiration is an institutional member of PARIVAR and networks with PARIVAR to help the mentally handicapped individuals and their families and creating awareness among them.
