Who We Are

The Inspiration Centre/Prerana Special School, is an organization dedicated to helping mentally disabled children and adults reach their full potential. Founded in 1995 in a small apartment in Vikaspuri, New Delhi the centre immediately started advocacy work in the Community, building community support and strengthening hope & determination in families with disabled children. For this, we personally make visits to such families, to give them support in all possible ways. We gather at community centres and other similar gatherings to discuss causes and possible prevention of such cases. We mainly target young women and children to spread the message and to learn to face such challenging situations in daily life. We seek to identify people from the community to work with the children.

The organisation INSPIRATION now registered and enjoying tax exemption under Section 80 G of Income Tax Act was formed later. Meeting parents with disabled children living in other parts of Delhi, we met with the need to spread, at their invitation, our advocacy efforts to other areas in the City.

The existing facilities at the presently known INSPIRATION CENTRE include :

  • Special Education
  • Speech Terrapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Parental Counselling
  • Teacher assistant Training
  • Prevocational Training

There are 30 students at present whose ages range from 3.5 years - 36years. They fall under the categories of :-

a)) Hyperactivity
b) Slowlearners
c) Mild mentally retarded
d) Moderate mentally retarded
e) Others like   i) Autism
                        ii) Cerebral Palsy
